      @dudleydes

Yeah, you're right. Just simply shut down the Pi once and swap the keyboard with the WiFi dongle and vice versa is the more comfortable way to do it without the need to hurry.

Perhaps it is a bad image. I did use the same image on each of the SD cards ... I'll try downloading again tomorrow, and see how that goes. I did unplug the extra hardware and still had the same errors, so my guess is it's not hardware related.

No insult/injury taken in the least - just appreciation! I know where the settings are, just have no clue why like 74MHz would be better than the stock 148MHz it's running. Or why some 16:9 ratio ones give me letterboxed 4:3, and some 4:3's give me 16:9 stretched widescreen. Basically just don't like messing with things I don't know 100% what they're about (unless it's a bunch of listed steps which have been used and raved about by like 100's of people and thought of as the 'way to do it'...if that makes sense...and if that was the case then it would most likely already be baked into the system in stock form ;) Admittedly Swapchain, frame delay - this I'm totally clueless about ;) I just want to play games!!

Anyway, I'm back in this topic tonight because I found a random SD card and popped it in. It has RetroPie 4.1.5 on it from ~2 weeks ago? It was definitely built EXACTLY like all the others I've been testing (I have a checklist I go through every time).

What's weird is NES Super Mario Bros and Adventure Island plays perfect. SNES Alien 3, DK Country, Earthworm Jim 2 play like 98% (those are my test games I always run). Now I didn't turn on the framerate counter, but I can tell these are worlds better than the 4.1.11 systems I've been messing with the past few days which are sluggish, skipping, normal then slow then normal then slow type of gameplay all the way around.

Is there a changelog for these small incremental changes? I'm totally convinced something happened from .5 to .11 that is causing problems.

It’s been quite a few weeks from my last update. Life and work got on the way of this project but I’m back on it, I also received some of the parts that I was waiting so I could start doing the power section of this project.

I have been thinking from a few month ago about a way to see the battery status. The cool thing is that the 3ds replacement case came with the light diffuser which fit at the front of the case.

So with this in mind I did a bit of research on the powerboost 1000C board to find a way to do a break board with some LED sitting under the diffuser.

What I’m thinking to use from the board is the Red LED for lower battery, the yellow LED for the charging state and the green LED for the charged state.

On the powerboost board the green and yellow LED share the V line and therefore can but wired to a RGB LED or a Bi-Color LED which has a common anode. I also test the voltage from the onboard LED and they run on 1.94v.

After doing some research I stumble onto this Bi-colour LED which match the colour I wanted to display, green and orange and also run between 1.9v to 3.8v which sounded perfect.

So fast forward, I finally got those LEDs and it was play time during the weekend
      alt text

I wired the cable directly on top of the on board LED solder pad with the help of some flux
      alt text

And with the help of a breadboard I could test the LED
      alt text

      alt text

And lastly I solder the wired for the red LED which I will test in the future
      alt text

On the case side I'm doing the few different ports, I will be posting this in my next update.

not a shader, but you can add a scanline effect. open /opt/retropie/configs/snes/snes9x.cfg and change DisplayEffect=0 to DisplayEffect=1

      i'm basing this on:

@Cadburylion said in 4 player support for SNES on RetroPie Zero:

The only games I care to get 4 player support working for is for the Bomberman series on SNES.

You took the words right outta my mouth Cadburylion. I have the exact same problem, someone please help! I have 3 poor... sad... helpless ... little kids who want to play 4 player Bomberman with their Dad.

@mrbwa1 I know, but when you turn the resolution down, people claim it works. I'll use a display with a very low resolution so I'm fine with turning the game's resolution down. But thanks anyway :)

@Yamt The only thing you need to watch out for with those ili9431 screens is the pcb overhang at the ends. If you measure the distance from the end of the screen to the start of the buttons, you will see what i mean. There are ways round this of course, you can unsolder the pins and use cables to free up some space, also the screen is attached to the PCB with 2 strips of tape. once these are detached, you can actually place the screen and PCB separately (although they are still attached by a ribbon cable). For the final trick, if unsolder the sd card socket, and carefully follow the lines on the PCB, you can actually chop away at least half of the board, making it easier to fit inside the case
